The Last Story was # 4

Athina and Free went on a hike to a waterfall.  Their phones did not have coverage. Their parents were worried.   They were having a good time when.

They weren’t afraid of animals.

All of a sudden,

It became very quiet.

Silent…

They sat up straight and did not make a sound.

They looked around to try and find why all the animals stopped talking.

They saw the reason.....  looked at each other, but did not speak.

They were scared....

They were scared because they both saw the same thing.  They looked at each other and knew it was real.  It was big.  It was shiny.  It almost was 2 meters tall. It looked just like a human.  It could be a boy or could be girl.  It was hard to see because everything was so shiny.

It began to walk towards them and began to get smaller. The shininess began to go away.  By the time it got in front of them it was normal size and not shiny.

Free being curious as always asked how they did the shiny disappearing trick.   Athena asked their name.  It said “My name is Dimento and the illusion, not trick, I did with a small camera. Mirrors, and a solar laser for light. Free thought this was ingenious.  Athina thought it was an unusual name.

Just as Athina and Free were going to ask Dimento where they were going, Dimento asked them where they were.  Why don’t you know where you are they both asked at the same time?

Dimento said somethings in a very soft voice.  They could only hear lost, walked into the woods, and came out and saw them.  They did not believe a word of it and knew something was being hidden.  Dimento was hiding something.

Even though they felt Dimento was hiding something, they felt Dimento was a safe and nice person.  Probably in some kind of trouble and does not trust strangers. They asked if D had a place to stay and D said no, not now.

They looked at each other for a few seconds.  Their eyes were asking if they should bring D home.  They decided it was ok.   Just to ask one more question they asked why he came there?  D answered more at ease “I am looking for my aunt.  She is tall, a great cook, and loves dogs.

That answer seemed safe and normal and they told D to come home with them and they could help find their aunt.  D looked so relieved.  D thanked them about 8 times!

Free’s dad was waiting when they came out of the woods.  He greeted and hugged them and then asked about Dimento.   They told him everything they knew and he looked briefly at Dimento and said ok welcome, let’s go home.  Free and Athina breathed a sigh of relief. 

When they arrived home the lady from across the street was walking her dogs.  Dimeto got out of the car and the dogs broke free and attacked him.

They did not bite or scratch him.  They jumped up and licked him.
